2012 Hyundai Veloster Software Update

Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will update the IEB software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin January 22, 2021. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460.

The fix is very easy: a software update, and likely won't take longer than a lunch break. Hyundai discovered that a previous software update for the 2014 Veloster, and all model years since. Joined Oct 21, 2011. #3 Oct 24, 2012. Well this is somewhat frustrating, the 2012 cars have an update to the head unit for: Non-nav headunits. Nav headunits as long as you have a DCT and autostart. Engine Monitoring Technology And Extended Warranty

In an effort to continually improve our product and as prompted in part by the recalls, Hyundai has developed new engine monitoring technology called a “knock sensor detection system.” The technology enables the detection of potential early engine issues caused by excessive bearing wear, and has been evaluated by one of the world’s leading engineering and scientific consulting firms. Customers are being notified through multiple points of contact. The technology is being installed on certain model year 2011-19 Sonatas, 2013-18 Santa Fe Sports, 2012 and 2019 Santa Fes, 2014-15 and 2018-19 Tucsons, 2015-2016 and 2019 Velosters, and 2011-2013 and 2016 Sonata Hybrids through a free software update performed by any Hyundai dealer.

Hyundai has extended the warranty of these vehicles for both original and subsequent owners for certain engine repairs.
