Hi guys,

Connecting Akai MPK Mini midi controller to Korg Gadget app in iPad. There shouldn't be a problem. You will need to use the mini-USB cable supplied with the Akai and connect this to a powered USB hub to give power to the Akai. Then connect the output from the USB hub to the Apple Camera Connector (USB) to your iPad. Akai essentially packs in a huge number of features into a tiny device. Its dimensions are smaller than a laptop’s and it weighs just about the same as an iPad Pro. Then there are the software features. The MPK Mini MK2 is VIP3.0 compatible, which really opens up live performance options. It also comes with an optional upgrade for MPC.

My Akai MPK 25 works perfectly well with Garageband, but is not working with Mainstage 3. Actually, the knobs work with Mainstage, but the keys and pads do not. The firmware is up to date and I have reset to factory defaults. When inserting the usb I get a prompt from Mainstage to turn to preset 1, which I do, but nothing comes out of the keys. I see that the midi signal is reaching the computer, but no output from any device. This is on a brand new MBP Retina.
